Next, you should take some time to decide if you want a manual or automatic home blood pressure monitor.  If you choose to purchase a digital professional blood pressure monitor you can choose an automatic or manual unit.  The automatic units will operate at the touch of a button while you will need to manipulate the manual unit.  Many people still like the manual units and find that they are more accurate, but it can be difficult to use the manual units and get an accurate reading because you have to be moving to make it work right. 

Last, consider whether you want a smaller unit that can easily travel with you, or if you want a larger unit that will be easier to read and will stay at home. If you are going to be traveling a bit it might be better to consider the smaller travel units.  If you will always be using the professional blood pressure monitor in the same place you might be able to choose one of the larger home blood pressure monitors, but the choice is all yours.
